Big News!

We found out this past Monday (Sept 14th) that we are expecting!

After 6 months of trying I started buying the cheap pregnancy tests. Monday morning when a very faint and very undefinitive line showed up, we decided that buying the ones that say "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant" was worth the $20!

When the word "Pregnant" popped up after a mere 30 seconds, I fumbled with another test to be sure. "Pregnant." I cried some very happy tears and Whit left work early. We could not believe it.

After telling my mom (we cried some more) and younger siblings, we jumped in the car to make a quick trip to Port Gibson, MS to tell Whit's parents in person. Imagine their surprise when we showed up there at 6 in the morning! They were so excited. We were able to spend the whole day celebrating with them before heading home Wednesday morning.

As timing would have it, my Dad had left for China on Sunday, so I would have to wait to tell him. It was killer all week! Finally he got back late Friday night and we showed up at their house to break the news. We did some more crying.

This child will be so very blessed to have 6 wonderful and loving grandparents, that are guaranteed to spoil him/her rotten! Additionally, it will have 9 great grandparents, 8 of which will become great grandparents for the first time. Our 12 brothers and sisters will become first time aunts and uncles as well (except for Matt and Cty who already have nephews on Matt's side). I must also mention the wonderful great aunts and great uncles from all sides.

Grandma Jean, who is watching us from heaven, is probably already telling her heavenly friends about her first great grandchild. I know she will be with us every step of the way.

WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!!

here's what you should know:

about baby:
Baby is 6 weeks today (Saturday Sept 19th)
We think I am due May 14, 2010
We will not be finding out the sex... I LOVE SURPRISES!
Our first dr. appt is Wed Sept 23 (more accurate due date then)

Our baby is currently the size of a sweet pea.

Fruit of the week has been one of my favorite features of our friends' blogs, so I will try to post the pics often.

about mama:
I have not really had any symptoms. I cried at church for the first time in a while, which should have been a dead give away. I have been yawny, but not fatigued. I don't have much of a appetite, but I have been doing healthy snacking between meals trying to be proactive about nausea. I'm thirsty all the time, so my water bottle has become a permanent fixture in my life. All the water has translated into frequent bathroom breaks. I hear that should last for the next 8 months!

Goodbye waistline, hello bump!

Very excited daddy!!! He has already been playing guitar for baby. So sweet.

We'll keep you posted!
